2015 New Orleans Saints Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

2015 NFL Football – Saints Analysis

The New Orleans Saints will be out to rebound from a disastrous 7-9 season a year ago when they begin their quest back to legitimacy September 13 in Arizona. New Orleans traded away arguably their most dangerous weapon in the offseason – Jimmy Graham went to Seattle while stud Center Max Unger came the other way – the team also let Kenny Stills get away!

***2015 BONUSES***

New Orleans has vowed to go to a more run-oriented attack and they did have a very good draft in which they filled a ton of holes. Will it mean more wins or has the team shot itself in the foot by ridding themselves of two huge weapons in the passing game.

Let’s take a look at the Saints full schedule and see if they can surpass the 9 win Total that Vegas has set out for them.

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 13, at Arizona, 4:05 p.m. ET

Not exactly a way that the Saints wanted to kick off their schedule. With so many changes and such a different philosophy in place it is hard to imagine New Orleans marching into Arizona and knocking off a team poised to become elite this season.

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 20, Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. ET

Jameis Winston makes his first road start and it doesn’t turn out well for the rookie. Toss aside last year’s home record for New Orleans – the Superdome is still one of the toughest buildings to play in. This game could get ugly early and when it does the crowd won’t let Mr. Winston off the hook.

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 27, at Carolina, 1 p.m. ET

On the road in Carolina the Saints will be out to avenge an ugly 41-10 drubbing in Week 14. But against Carolina’s still top tier defense don’t expect the Panthers to get much going here. On the flip side Cam Newton and Jonathan Stewart should expose Rob Ryan’s still-susceptible defense. The Saints start 1-2 – not exactly where they hoped after three weeks.

Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 4, Dallas, 8:30 p.m. ET

Juicy Week 4 matchup at home in Prime Time. Dallas will be without Greg Hardy and their running back situation still looks brutal. The Saints are a tough out at home and equally tough in prime time. I like the Saints to take this game in a shootout – it should be fun!

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 11, at Philadelphia, 1 p.m. ET

I have no idea what to make of the Eagles heading into 2015. We know that two explosive offenses will be going at it in a pretty good Week 5 showdown.

SportsBettingOnline Girl

I think the Eagles find a way and take care of the Saints at home – New Orleans heads into their Thursday nighter 2-3.

Week 6: Thursday, Oct. 15, Atlanta, 8:25 p.m. ET

Home again the Saints get the Falcons on Thursday night – should be a good one! Something tells me the Saints rise to the occasion in this one and expose the Falcons still-questionable defense. The Saints home field looks to be a major advantage again.

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 25, at Indianapolis, 1 p.m. ET

The weakness of the Saints is the secondary – not a good sign when faced with Andrew Luck, TY Hilton and Andre Johnson on the road. I expect the Colts to take care of business here and move the Saints to 3-4 on the season.

Week 8: Sunday, Nov. 1, N.Y. Giants, 1 p.m. ET

Another potent offense and another issue for the secondary. This time Odell Beckham will be the beneficiary of the gaping holes in the Saints defense. At home I like an improved Giants squad to hand the Saints their second straight loss.

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 8, Tennessee, 1 p.m. ET

Nothing snaps a slump like a visit from the Tennessee Titans! Marcus Mariota makes this team better but still – who will he be throwing to? The Saints must win this game and will. The Titans just don’t have enough firepower to keep up in this one.

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 15, at Washington, 1 p.m. ET

By Week 10 the dysfunctional Redskins will be on full display. Despite a 4-5 record the Saints are still in the mix for the South crown here – they are a motivated bunch on the road and dispatch a Skins team that just can’t find their way. New Orleans feels good about themselves and heads into the bye 5-5.

Week 11: BYE

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 29, at Houston, 1 p.m. ET

The Houston Texans will be scary on defense with JJ Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and Vince Wilfork but on offense – they have little outside of a good rushing attack. Simply put Brian Hoyer scares nobody. Rob Ryan has an extra week to prepare and will have his defense ready for Houston’s one-dimensional attack.

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 6, Carolina, 1 p.m. ET

The Panthers seem to have the Saints number but my thought is that home field advantage returns to the Saints this year. Add in the fact that New Orleans will be out to avenge an ugly 31 point loss the last meeting and the Saints bring their best to this game. New Orleans heads into Week 14 7-5.

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 13, at Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. ET

The Bucs will be improved Atlanta Falcons Analysis but not enough to hold off the charging Saints. New Orleans wins their third straight and has the playoffs in their sights.

Week 15: Monday, Dec. 21, Detroit, 7:30 p.m. ET

A shootout looms in Week 15. But by Week 15 we will know that New Orleans isn’t the offensive juggernaut they have been in the past.

I like Detroit to claim victory here and end the Saints three game win streak.

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 27, Jacksonville, 1 p.m. ET

Jacksonville will be no match for most teams in the NFL particularly with their first round draft choice lost for the season. With a 9-6 record heading into the final week, the Saints look poised to qualify for the playoffs.

Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 3, at Atlanta, 1 p.m. ET

It’s all on the line in Week 17 – the Falcons too will likely be fighting for a playoff spot. Take the Falcons behind Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Roddy White to hold serve here – the Falcons won both meetings last year and have gotten better this offseason while the Saints haven’t dramatically improved.

The New Orleans Saints will be better this year thanks to a return to home dominance. But qualifying for the playoffs is a longshot again as 10-6 will likely be needed to get into the postseason.

2015 Saints NFL Prediction

They finish 9-7 and prepare for yet another long offseason. Maybe this year they will finally get rid of Rob Ryan whose defense will likely underachieve… Again!
